Time Flies...

As of late I've really been thinking about how long its been since Jordan was born. It flew by but still, 8 months ago our little guy made a surprise appearance and I can't believe looking at him now that he was less than 4lbs! He makes us smile all the time with love and that's exactly the hope I had when I first thought that I wanted to be a parent with Chris. As I watch Jordan develop I'm amazed at how much wee little babies have to learn and therefore just how much brain development is going on. As adults learning new things can sometimes get too hard so we give up but babies just keep doing it until they get it. Muscle control and tone is the same too. Its like Physio for babies! But they keep 'working out' until they can move their body parts the way they're trying to. I read my cousin Veronica's blog yesterday and she's also going through the same experiences with her little girl and it made me want to share as well.

Now that Jordan sits up I can see him thinking out...
'how do I get that toy over there?... I have to get on my belly and roll over to it'.
And when Chris or I leave the play space to go to the kitchen Jordan will sometimes want to follow us and do it via rolling. He hasn't mastered crawling yet so the rolls are his mode of locomotion. However, he does "moon walk" as I call it. He crawls backwards until he's backed himself under something! Its quite cute although you can see him thinking "forward, I want to move forward".

Jordan reaches for the spoon when we feed him, wanting to feed himself. He usually ends up gagging himself or just chewing on it, but he's trying!

He understands that when I put a blanket over his head he can pull it off. He used to shake his head frantically trying to get it off but two days ago he reached up and pulled it down with such a big smile of satisfaction that I burst out laughing so now he associates it with laughter. Peek-a-Boo has begun! (let me say here that I never left the blanket over his head more than a moment to see if he would pull it off! no babies were tortured here)

On another note his sleeping is much better. We used to have to soothe him to sleep and as some of you know we were co-sleeping. Recently we put him in his crib and then let him put himself to sleep and there was a lot of crying at first. He's now so used to the crib that he needs to be in it, not in my arms, to fall asleep. He arches a bit in my arms to tell me "put me down now please" and once I do he rolls over and drifts off.  I never thought I'd see the day!

I wanted to write this all down because I want to remember how all these little things amazed me. As the years go by I'll start to forget about these little things for the new things. But all of it is special and memorable.

Love the Tshirt Laura. It was a great visit once again with Cindy and Jordan. It is so nice to get all the cousins together, first and seconds.
