A Couple of Firsts

On Monday it was cold and rainy in the city and I knew I was going to need to find stuff to do to keep Jordan occupied indoors. We recently had our friends Tracy and Jamie over for dinner and they brought Jordan an early birthday present... his first paint set! So on Cindy's recommendation that's what Jordan and I got up to on Monday. I've got to say Jordan LOVED painting. He squealed with delight when his brush first touched the paper and a splash of blue hit the page. It didn't take him long to discover that he could also use his hands to paint with. He had a real blast. Thank you for the paint set Tracy and Jamie! Anyway, we may have a little Picasso on our hands. So without further ado... here is Jordan's first masterpiece.

He had another first that day, at least it was the first time I saw him do it. After painting the rain had cleared a little, so Jordan and I went for walk around the block to get the mail. On the way back he wanted to walk through the driveway area of our townhouses, which we don't usually do. When we turned the corner we saw a dozen puddles of various sizes. Jordan glanced at me with excitement and then pointed at the puddles. So I encouraged him to go splash up a storm.

Boy did he ever love that. His giggles were infectious. We had a great time until he started splashing with his hands and putting them in his mouth. Kids. What can you do? Next time I will follow Cindy's advice though and make sure that if he's going to be splashing in puddles that he's wearing his rubber boots and not his running shoes. Dads. What can you do?

SUPER cute. And sure, rubber boots are better for splashing, but what can you do when you're seizing the moment, eh?

I can't believe that is the first time he has gone puddle splashing. Autumn loves that. Uncle Rodney and I when we were first dating and even after marriage, would go out during and after rain storms and go puddle stomping, with our bare feet. Lots of fun.

It was great to have everyone who was here for Thanksgiving.
