The idea was that we take the kids camping. But Laura found out early in the week that Pinehurst and a lot of lakes were off limits due to e-coli. Its been a hot few weeks! In addition you couldn't have camp fires. Those restrictions don't equal a fun camping weekend. So I decided to take the kids to Guelph anyway and spend the weekend.

Diving right into the weekend. Amber and Roxy are checking each other out. |

Cozy corner tent. |
We arrived on Friday afternoon. Did some chalk drawing outside, had dinner and headed to the park before bed time. As you can see below Jordan had lots of fun running around and got his third big scrape of the summer; this one on his right shin.
SATURDAY
 |
Saturday morning. Waiting for raspberry pancakes. |
We then headed off to the library. I'm jealous of the downtown Guelph library. It has an entire floor dedicated to small kids and youth. There are random toys and play areas for the kids. And you don't feel like you have to hush so much!
After a very long and needed afternoon nap we took the kids to the splash pad at City Hall. Its an ice rink in winter. Great use of public space and only about 3" deep so it was perfect for the kids to ramble through.

"Why does Jordan keep running away?" |

Hamming it up... again. |

Even Amber loved checking them out and feeling the spatter. |

Time for a rest. |
 |
Drying off so and having a small snack before we go get dinner. |

She was so cozy waiting for a change. |

To replace the camping experience Laura kindly set up the tent for her and Jordan to sleep in. |

This is story time. |
He lasted 5 minutes on his own and came in the house to sleep.
At 5am we were woken by a bat. Good timing bat. Just early enough that the kids will now not go back to sleep. Laura got it out via some coaxing and her bedroom window.
SUNDAY
 |
Guelph Lake |
What a perfect lake to bring the kids. Shallow and warm and very close.
Jordan spent most of the time building his rock castle but did get up to his armpits in the water.

Wrapping up at the beach. Time to head back to Toronto. |
 |
And this is the scene in the back seat driving back from the lake to Laura's to drop her off and pack the rest of the car. The back seat remained this quiet until we got home!
Thanks for a super fun weekend Auntie Laura! x0 |
