Progesterone Bites

by:Cindy

So on our way to Cochrane for Canada Day weekend my mom, sisters and I stopped for a picnic just north of North Bay at Tomiko River... well, the black flies were out. And although I thought I was just feeling 'green' at being outdoors this year and a rookie dealing with the bugs it turns out they REALLY were feasting on me. When we got back in the car I had a ring of bloody bites all around my neck.  This was after 15-20 minutes tops!

We figure its a combo of the progesterone levels in me as well as the banana I'd eaten just shortly before.

I will say that I didn't really feel too many more bugs biting after arriving in Cochrane... these ones were enough to 'get' me through the weekend itchin and a scratchin.

Here's photos that don't even do them justice!
(by the way, i'm feeling much better now!)

That looks horribly itchy! They say pregnant women attract more bugs because of the hormones and the increase in Co2 we give off. Nobody else has to worry about their bug spray when were around. LOL

I am sooooo glad you pointed out that you got these bites before you arrived in Cochrane. We would not want to scare anyone away. I know I am behind in posting this, but have been away Cindy and Chris. Hope the bites have dissapated by now Cindy.
