Olympic Wrap
by Cindy
Well the Peanut and I survived the production of the Beijing Olympic Games. I tell you about this because we made many new friends, saw those from previous games and survived a 34 day straight work-a-thon together... just barely. I'm tired. Really tired... but having company throughout the entire event was actually reassuring! Our Lil' Peanut made new friends who cared about him and his well being and thus mommy was well watched over by some of the loveliest people. Including one of our writer's who's wife is due just 5 days before us! I'm sure the little guy got used to the sounds of a hectic production office and will now wonder "Why's it so quiet all the time?" since I have an office of my own (well, I share, but its still quiet).
And last night we closed with our Wrap Party. This is the party to end all parties. Most people have had 4 hours sleep for 16 days or more, one meal a day, and no time for alcohol or frivolities. As soon as we were off air, packaged our pieces and sent the final closing show up to Coord, all were packed up and now piling into a party room at a hotel one block from CBC. My roll, as has been throughout, is to manage who comes in... The Bouncer. Always fun. (not really) From 8pm until about 1am Peanut and I watched over the celebrants and chatted with them and from what I can tell, Peanut loves to party! He would not stop moving with all the chatter and excitement around him! I think he was sad when I finally carted us home to bed because he was still tumbling about for quite a while.
So there we go, our Peanut's first experience in TV production - and hopefully he learned his lesson... be a rock star instead. Ha ha.
Now we'll have time to visit much missed family and friends and have normal time with Dad!
