New Discoveries

I thought I'd start off this entry with a cute sleepy baby photo!

=================================
Its so fun to watch Jordan learning and trying new things. The look on his face is priceless sometimes!

*Somehow as we feed Jordan pieces of food with our hands he has learned to reciprocate. Out of the blue he held out a piece of food for me to eat one day. He then did it for Chris too! Its so sweet. He's already sharing.

*Today while feeding Jordan, the metal handle of the spoon was catching the sun and causing a dancing light spot on the ceiling. This kept him smiling and amused - he was so curious.

*Waving or Signing?
We've been trying to teach Jordan to wave. This has resulted in him sticking his arm out and twisting his wrist. No waggly fingers yet. And in the past couple of weeks I've been more diligent about teaching him the sign for 'milk' which is opening and closing your hand near your face - the back of your hand facing out. On Friday for the first time, without prompting, Jordan suddenly started opening and closing his hand near his face. We're pretty sure he's morphing his wave finally, but its funny that it looks just like 'milk' because he does it all the time! I know he likes his milk but...

*Last night Jordan had his first taste of a chocolate chip cookie! Chris broke off a tiny bit of one that he had just baked and put the piece in Jordan's mouth. Immediately Jordan smiled from ear to ear and tipped his head back as if to say, "This is awesome! I'm in heaven." It cracked us up and I was then wishing I'd had the video camera ready. I did grab it after that and got a bit of his enthusiasm on tape.

*And just this evening was Jordan's longest unassisted stand! He was in a wide legged stance (like a cowboy, with knees bent) and pulled a toy out of his bin, stood with both hands on and inspecting the toy. It went on so long I started counting and really ended up at about 15 seconds in addition to my gawking time! He never really flinches when he stands on his own. When he's losing balance he just sits on his butt or puts his hand out for support. Its coming soon! More independence...

*In the hallways and elevator of our condo the acoustics are great and Jordan has discovered this. He regularly chats as soon as we are in either and you can tell he's listening to his own voice and how it sounds in that space. For us all of these little things are new and we love it!

P.S. Not so fun when they pick things up off the floor and try to feed that to you!

Autumn and I were playing in the hallway and talking into it because of the echo sound. She laughed and kept talking into the hallway. It's amazing how our children and grandchildren help us to experience things all over again. He looks so good. Hope to see him soon. And yes, watch the things they pick up to eat from the floor. Once they have teeth, it's harder to get it out as well.

Right now we're okay with the floor, I can maintain that pretty well... BUT the outdoors ground... that's a whole other ball game. This past week he has begun picking up leaves and sticks and anything his fingers find! And yes, the teeth sure make it hard to get out.
Ouch!
