Camping 101
My sister Laura and I decided it was time to introduce Jordan to camping. We grew up in a tent so it wouldn't be too hard. What I worried about most was his sleeping and it seems I had nothing to fear. I went on my mom's advice to lay with him until he fell asleep and it worked! Jordan liked just running around the site and off the site... with all that wide open space he really didn't understand why we wanted him to stay in a perimeter which obviously seems completely unreasonable to him. He constantly ran across the "road" to the wilderness across from us. He never made it very far but he kept trying! Persistant little toot that he is!
The first day we had a lot of rain showers so once we set up camp we took a little walk then had dinner and started a fire. This of course, was another thing Jordan was curious about so we let him figure it out for himself... kidding! As mentioned I put Jordan to bed and then Laura and I stayed up until the pitiful bag of fire wood we bought on site ran out. We had forgotten to treat ourselves to a loot of junk food so we figured we might as well go to bed!
Jordan slept in until 7:10! This was much appreciated by all. (He normally wakes between 600-630). After breakfast we went to the little beach and beat the crowds that were out of control when we later drove by on our way out. So we had a nice little quiet beach morning and then went back for a snack and a nap. (I napped too) At first I lay down to put Jordan down but he tossed and turned so much I got tuckered out laying there so long. Not too long after though I did get up and Laura and I realised we should start striking camp to be off by 2pm. The thought of another afternoon of rain wasn't too desirable and we didn't know if the site was even available as we'd only booked one night as a trial. We stripped most of the site including the interior of the tent while Jordan kept on sleeping. The fresh air gave him lots of good sleeps!
Once Jordan woke up, we had lunch and checked off the site we headed to the other end of the park so we could go on the hiking trails. Roxy on a leash and Jordan on my back via carrier we did a few small routes seeing lots of the gorge and even an old mill Laura was positive we could find!
Laura will have more photos as she was more snap happy than myself... but I'll blame that on having to chase Jordan so much. *wink wink*
