Six Days Old!

Little miss Amber was 6 days old today and into her 35th week. We're working on nursing and or bottle feeds to just get her up to speed on eating without the tube which means to go home. Once she has the strength to nurse and bottle feed we're set. The bottle is much easier and as much as I don't want it to trump nursing I am willing for it to be an alternative way of feeding. Every other feed even will give her a rest from nursing.

Its possible that tomorrow she will be under 'the lights' as her jaundice level was up a bit today. They did a blood test in the morning and were planning another 12hrs later to monitor that it didn't spike. It goes fast if it does. But otherwise she's great. Not one spell without breathing aide since she was born.
Each day I go in I have to check which of the 3 rooms she'll be in. It seems they move her depending on how busy each room is, to give her a quiet room since she really is still small but so well along.

Unfortunately daddy and Jordan haven't been able to see her for a few days as Chris felt a cold coming on and Jordan ended up with a bit of an irritated and oozing eye yesterday that we are treating with Polysporin drops. (Thank you daddy for calling Telehealth and getting advice!) It does seem to be less pink and puffy today so it seems it working.

In the bath today Amber moved her hips well. I'm not sure if I've really explained that due to being in breech fetal position for so long that her hips don't open well and she has her legs curled up. It seems to give her pain if you were to pull her hips straight... so we don't. They even swaddle her with them in frog position to let them naturally loosen up. And it seems I can finally see that they will. When I put her in the bath today she was moving her hip joints and I could see some extension. The warm water probably helped as it sounds as though it feels arthritic to her. After her bath and changing they gave her a bit of Tylenol so she could rest easily. I know she's tiny but I completely agreed to give it to her.

And look how happily she slept!

Jordan being his normal Mr. Sillious Billious. (with a slightly puffy left eye)

Think you want to change Autumn to Amber lol. Blame it on hormones and exhaustion. LOL. Got to spend time with Autumn yesterday. She is up for a week. Staying at other grandparents for this trip but we did have her over night last night. Be good to get everyone together sometime.

How has she been here for a week already?! Time goes so fast (though perhaps less so to the sleep deprived, grin.)
The previous comment made me wonder if you considered 'Autumn', or know one, or were just half-asleep - ?
I can't wait to meet Amber... let me know when that can be worked out (and if home or hospital visiting is preferred.) xoxo to all!

What a beautiful girl! Glad to hear that she's doing well! If the bottle is working for you, go with it - whatever works right? I love that she has frog legs. Ethan had them too for the first couple weeks after he was born. It was so cute! We're really looking forward to meeting your sweet babe and seeing you all this summer!
