Gymnastics is over... for now.
This winter Jordan has been attending the community centre for various activities that we signed him up for; Gymnastics, Art and Creative Movement. The 9 week spots are now over but tomorrow the spring session sign up begins and I think we'll put him in gymnastics and creative movement again. Something to get him active and playing since its still a bit yucky outside. The art was a very fun 10 minutes of an hour session, so I heard. Of course these were all during the week days so Chris was taking him. I'll post pictures of his art up here too.
But on Monday I stayed home from work nursing the beginning of this cold Jordan has and yes, it gave me a convenient opportunity to go to his last gymnastics to see what it was all about. Basically a gymnasium full of matts, mini gym apparatuses and even a trampoline, for the kids to play on. Jordan ran the balance beam the first few weeks but then changed his mind according to Chris and is now timid! Photo below proves this. The trampoline... also not a fan. Oh well, maybe the one at Granny & Papa's will change his mind this summer! He loved the other basics though, slides, rocking toys, hullahoops, bars and on Monday, ribbons! He owns a ribbon but for some reason the one at the gym was way more fun... the room to swing it around perhaps?
Look at that form with the ribbon!
They also, as they did with all closing of classes, had a little parachute fun. Holding the outer rim of the parachute, the kids all shake it and sing a song, then upon prompting as little fishies, they crawl underneath it while the adults hold the parachute. A sweet little song was sung as the kids all lay down quietly under the floating fabric. After that they all come out and jump on top of the parachute and sing No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed! It was very cute to see. I could imagine the chaos the first two weeks trying to teach them this and seeing now how well they all understood the game. It'll be nice in the next year to attend these activities more often!
